PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Synopsis of Programs Flow Induced Vibration analyzes one span at a time. Spans can be straight or u-bend spans with equal or unequal leg lengths. Tubes may be bare or finned. FIV also calculates the effect to the tube natural frequency of a longitudinal load. Users may input a crossflow velocity or the program will calculate a crossflow velocity for single shell pass design with segmental baffles.

Users can move between various areas of each program by "clicking" on the appropriately labeled tab at the top of the screen. Movement between input fields follows typical Windows® conventions (i.e. mouse or [Tab] key); users can also move from field to field using the [Enter] key. A few of the input enhancements include: Material classifications are displayed in a "drop-down" combo box allowing the user to choose the desired material. The database contains the mean coefficient of thermal expansion, the modulus of elasticity and the density of each material at temperatures from –200° F to 1400° F Input and output can be either "English" or metric Span geometry (FIV) is graphically represented, based on selected description Screens are resolution independent and can be resized to fit user’s monitor Extensive On-Line Help System A Windows® styled help system is available throughout each program. Pressing F1 at any time will display the appropriate topic for the currently "active" field or screen. The on-line help contains detailed descriptions of requested input, as well as references to particular paragraphs of the TEMA standards. The help system also contains a table of contents and indexed search capability to assist the user in finding help for particular topics. Redesigned Printout of Calculations The new layout of the printouts provides a clear and concise view of the each program’s calcuation(s). Because it is truly Windows® compatible, the software makes use of the user’s default printer, eliminating the need to load additional printer drivers during installation.
